Sovereign Pro Wrestling - False Idols Review

What to do on a Bank Holiday Monday….

I know, let’s go to Sovereign Pro Wrestling!

It was Real Rasslin’s debut at Sov Pro and I must say, we were absolutely spoiled with a stacked match card and we were welcomed with open arms and made to feel like part of the Sov Pro family.

Let us jump right in with the action as we have a lot to cover.

Match 1: Sunshine Machine (TK Cooper & Chuck Mambo) vs CPF (Danny Black & Joe Lando)

Well, this one kicked off with CPF jumping Sunshine Machine before the bell even rang, such a show of disrespect from CPF. Sunshine Machine making some quick tags, pin attempt broken up by Black. CPF hit TK with a double Superkick, but TK was able to survive. Sunshine Machine hit back with a double headbutt.

Plenty of tag team offence from both teams. The crowd was firmly behind Sunshine Machine in this one.

Danny Black with some cheap, cheating tactics on the top turnbuckle, which leads to a 2.9 count as TK is able to kick out.

Sunshine Machine looked for the win, but referee Sandy Beaches was pulled out of the ring by Kelly Sixx!

During the kerfuffle outside, CPF were able to capitalise and managed to pin TK.

CPF were the winners of this match.

Match 2: Sov Pro Women’s Championship Match - Emersyn Jayne vs LA Taylor

A battle of strength and will in the centre of the ring to begin this one. The match was taken to the outside with Emersyn getting the upper hand, until LA hit a devastating powerbomb on the apron. The match continued into the ring and it was incredibly even between both women, there were some near falls from both. In the end though, LA Taylor was able to end

the match with an incredibly dominant finish.

LA Taylor retains the SOV Pro Women’s Championship.

Match 3: Melissa Fierce vs Lucia Lee

Melissa Fierce took control early on, Lucia Lee managed to even it up. Fierce mocked the crowd for their support of Lee. A lot of hard hitting blows traded in the ring. Once the dust had settled, Lucia Lee was able to pick up the win.

Lucia Lee was the winner.

Match 4: Tony Wright vs Kelly Sixx

Kelly Sixx thought he had an easy match, but Wright was able to take Sixx off his feet. The crowd were majorly behind Tony Wright.

Tony delivered a huge leg drop from the top rope, but caused himself as much damage as he inflicted on Sixx. Tony kept up with his momentum and stayed in control. Sixx managed to get Tony in a sneaky roll up and held onto the tights, managing to steal the victory.

Kelly Sixx was the winner.

Match 5: The Coronation Street Fight! The Wright Way vs LBWO

The Wright Way came to the ring and they were immediately hated by the crowd. Plenty of talk on the microphone from the Wright Way until the LBWO came out. A challenge was issued, if the Wright Way won the Coronation Street Fight, then the price of alcohol at the bar would increase by £1, if the LBWO won, then the price would decrease by £1. This was accepted and agreed by Sov Pro management.

The match began and chaos ensued! The fight broke out around the entire venue, there was even some action at the Real Rasslin stall, including the wheel being spun and some of our stock being used as weapons!

This one was hard to keep track of as the action was happening everywhere. Even Les Battersby was throwing punches and boots! We even had a cameo of Jack Duckworth’s “pigeons”. In the end though, it was the LBWO who picked up the victory.

After the match, Ashley Peacock came out with the rest of Our Ashley’s Butcher Club. This led to a brawl between both teams, and Our Ashely’s Butcher Club clearing the ring.

Match 6: Commonwealth Championship Match - Ian Skinner vs Leon Slater

A hot start from Leon Slater with a huge kick followed by a dive to the outside. This match was incredibly fast paced which was expected and it even earned some “fight forever” chants from the crowd. Leon inadvertently delivers a Big Boot to Sandy Beeches which takes her out. Ian Skinner wanted to take advantage of the ref being down and tried attacking Leon with the belt, but Leon was able to avoid the belt shot. Leon was able to take down Ian Skinner and pinned him, the crowd counting the pin (to a 10 count) as the ref was still down. Low Blow attempt from Skinner, but Leon able to catch his arm to avoid. Leon goes for some top rope offence but he is thrown from the top rope by Big T! Skinner covers Leon, but Leon is able to kick out.

Skinner rolled out of the ring after some brutal back and forth. Big T pushes Skinner out of the way of a dive, so Leon went over the corner post to take them both out.

The match gets back into the ring, Big T gets up onto the apron causing a ref distraction. Skinner hits Leon with the belt and gets the pin!

Ian Skinner is the NEW Commonwealth Champion!

Match 7: Harley Hudson Open Challenge - Harley Hudson vs Skye Smitson

The match began with a test of strength, followed by Harley testing the speed of Smitson, ducking in and out of the ring but Harley was then launched by Smitson.

Harley hit Smitson with chops before gripping Smitson in a submission. Harley hit some big clotheslines before launching into some hip attacks in the corner.

Smitson came back with a huge clothesline, goes for her finish but Harley is able to escape and manages to get the pin!

Harley Hudson wins this match.

After the bell, Smitson attempts a beat down of Harley but Harley is able to hold her own. Harley then asks for a microphone and says a big thank you to the fans as she says “goodbye”.

Main Event: World Havyweight Championship TLC Match - Man Like Deriess vs Bullit vs Sam Gradwell vs Joey Hayes vs Joseph Connors

This match is once again, just pure chaos. 5 men competing for the main prize at Sov Pro. There are bodies, tables, ladders and chairs everywhere! This was another difficult one to keep track of all the action as it was happening everywhere. Connors was bounced on a ladder by Gradwell and Deriess, there were chops galore, people being knocked off ladders, ladders used as weapons and even a dive into the front row! Connors was put through a table set up in the corner, Bullit pushed Gradwell and Hayes through the table set up on the outside. Deriess ended up being pinned under a ladder while Connors tried to climb the ladder to retrieve the title but he was stopped. Bullit and Deriess climb the ladder and exchange blows at the top, Bullit then threw Deriess off the top and grabs the title to become the NEW Sov Pro World Heavyweight Champion!

This was an incredible, action packed show that was hard to keep track of everything that happened. It was one of the best events I have been to and I enjoyed myself so much.
