Scott Steiner Recounts Brutal Match With Fellow WWE Hall of Famer

We at Real Rasslin have come to learn.

WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner revisited his hard-hitting encounter with fellow legendary wrestler Goldberg during their time in WCW.

The match, which took place at WCW‘s Fall Brawl in 2000, was described by Scott Steiner, in a recent interview on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast, as a brutal no-disqualification showdown that demanded them to “beat the sh*t out of each other.”

Scott Steiner expressed his admiration for athletes who transitioned from sports to professional wrestling, citing Goldberg’s college and professional sports background as a source of respect. According to Scott Steiner, the transition from college sports to wrestling commands a unique level of respect due to the challenges associated with obtaining a college scholarship.

“You know when most athletes that played in college and or play pro like Bill did, there’s a certain amount of respect that you have. If you think about it, it’s really hard to get a college scholarship. So there’s a certain amount of respect for guys that played sports, I would say more so than anybody else that gets into wrestling. So we had a certain amount of respect.”

Reflecting on the physical toll of the match, Scott Steiner revealed that he had to wear a mask during the bout due to sustaining an injury in the lead-up to the match. A stray punch by Goldberg resulted in Scott Steiner suffering a broken orbital bone, an incident attributed to unfortunate timing. Despite the injury, Scott Steiner emerged victorious in the match after applying his signature Steiner Recliner.

Following their initial encounter, Scott Steiner and Goldberg had a rematch on the subsequent week’s Nitro, where Goldberg secured the win, effectively concluding their feud.

Why Was Scott Steiner’s WWE Hall Of Fame Induction Delayed?

Scott Steiner admitted that he was to blame for his delayed WWE Hall of Fame induction. He stated that he harbingered a grudge towards WWE for some time but was eventually able to let it go.
