New AEW star TURNED DOWN WWE offer

We at Real Rasslin have come to learn.

In a significant move within the wrestling world, Will Ospreay has recently made headlines by turning down an offer from WWE to sign with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

This decision marks a pivotal moment in Will Ospreay’s career and highlights the competitive nature of wrestling promotions vying for top talent.

Ospreay’s Decision: WWE or All Elite?

Will Ospreay, scheduled for his final match in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) on February 11th, will transition to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) thereafter. His choice came despite receiving an attractive offer from WWE.

In an interview with Lan Pitts of Gamespot, Will Ospreay expressed his trust in Tony Khan, AEW’s president, as a significant factor in his decision.

He emphasised the importance of knowing his role in the ring and the ease of working under Khan’s leadership.

The Future in AEW

Will Ospreay’s move to AEW opens up numerous possibilities for him in the ring. He is keen to challenge himself in a new environment, different from the sports-based focus of NJPW.

His first match against Chris Jericho, a renowned wrestling superstar, set the tone for his aspirations in AEW. Will Ospreay is eager to pursue championships and world titles, venturing into uncharted waters and testing his abilities in a different wrestling style:

“There’s something for me to climb, there’s something for me to build upon. That first match with Chris Jericho, who is one of the biggest wrestling stars in the world, was probably the biggest star in the company at that time. I want to progress from that.

“I want to see what other bucket [list items] I can tick. I want to go for championships. I want to go for world titles. I want to see what I can actually do because I’ve never been put in these situations. New Japan is a sports-based wrestling product, it isn’t really known for its on-screen personalities. So this is all new for me and I just want to test myself. I want to try my very best to swim in waters I’m not very sure of, so for me, this is all a challenge.”
