WWE Hall Of Famer Pete Rose Passes Away

MLB legend and WWE Hall of Famer Pete Rose passed away on September 30, 2024, at the age of 83 at his Las Vegas home.

In a storied baseball career, Rose managed the Cincinnati Reds between 1984 and 1989 having played for the team between 1963 and 1978.

Known as “the Big Red Machine” it should come as no surprise that his involvement with the WWE would see him encountering Kane.

At WrestleMania XIV, Kane would attack Rose, delivering a Tombstone to the baseball legend, as can be seen below this news story.

The passing of Rose has seen a tribute from WWE on their official website, reading:

“WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Pete Rose has passed away.

“An all-time great and baseball’s “Hit King,” Rose won three World Series championships, was a 17-time All-Star, and the 1973 National League MVP during his 23-year career with the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Montreal Expos.

“In the WWE Universe, Rose is best known for his appearances on The Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania. At the 14th edition in 1998, Rose appeared as the guest ring announcer for the match between Undertaker and Kane.

“After Rose ran down the Boston crowd and their beloved Red Sox, Kane piledrived the baseball legend.Rose attempted to get payback on The Big Red Machine several times over the years but failed in memorable fashion each time.

“In recognition of his unforgettable WrestleMania moments, Rose was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004.WWE extends its condolences to Rose’s family, friends and fans”

The MLB has shared its condolences after the passing of Rose in a tweet that read:

“Major League Baseball extends its deepest condolences to Pete Rose’s family, his friends across the game, and the fans of his hometown of Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Montreal and beyond who admired his greatness, grit and determination on the field of play. May he rest in peace.”

At the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in 2004, it would be Kane who inducted Rose into that year’s Class.
