An update has emerged on the WWE status of Brian Pillman Jr, the ex-AEW star recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center.
It was reported on July 12th that Brian Pillman Jr’s AEW contract had expired, with the star officially departing the company.
Following this, reports emerged on Brian Pillman Jr training at the WWE Performance Center on Thursday (July 13).
This fuelled speculation that Pillman will be making the jump from AEW immediately to WWE.
Per Fightful Select Brian Pillman Jr is still a free agent, and isn’t signed to WWE.
Fightful Did confirm that Brian Pillman Jr has left AEW, and was spotted by numerous people at the WWE Performance Center, and that he was in ‘sight’ of many others at the facility.
Per the report, WWE sources confirmed that Brian Pillman Jr was working out at the facility, and was involved with a ‘get to know you’ type of meeting with the company.
It was also reported that WWE had an ‘immediate interest’ in Brian Pillman Jr when he became available.
Brian Pillman Jr last wrestled for AEW during the May 13th House Rules event, teaming with Brock Anderson in a losing effort against Austin & Colten Gunn.
His most recent ‘televised’ AEW match saw him and Brock Anderson defeat Cezar Bononi & Ryan Nemeth on the April 24th edition of Dark.
Brian Pillman Jr would not be bound by a non-compete clause because it was a contract expiry, rather than him being released from AEW while under contract.
