Coming to you from Universal Studios this week, with a combined 6 matches. Featuring Dark Order, Varsity Athletes, Zack Clayton, and more... Here are your Highlights:
#1 Is this Goodbye?
There was no official Dark: Elevation this week, instead what they gave us was a “Best of Elevation” episode. What made this unusual is that we normally only get these at the end of the year, not 4 months in. It’s still worth a watch, featuring some great matches including: -Dark Order & Varsity Blondes v The Acclaimed & Chaos Project -Minoru Suzuki v QT Marshall -Death Triangle v The Wingmen -Plus many more!
I don’t believe there has been an official announcement yet, but many are speculating that this is the end of Elevation’s run. Which when you think about it, makes sense, what with them filming Dynamite, Rampage & ROH typically in one event... there’s not much room left for a YouTube show!
#2 A New Hello
Even with Elevation potentially ending, Dark is seemingly rolling forward, with a run time of 41 minutes this week. The biggest takeaway for me from this show was the in-ring debut of Harley Cameron. If you’re not too familiar with that name, it’s the lady who appears on QTV, and has been accompanying Powerhouse Hobbs in recent weeks, often seen filming the action on her mobile.
The Australian looked great in her first AEW match, though we didn’t see too much of her, with the match only running 4 minutes. During which she was able to grab a few selfies & videos whilst beating down her opponent. All before grabbing the win after a backstabber. Side note: why is every wrestler from Australia, from “Gold Coast”?
#3 Lineage
Arn Anderson has been busy as of late. First he lead Wardlow to regain his TNT title, and this week he lead out the 2nd generation tag team of Brock Anderson & Brian Pillman Jr. Before their match they had some promo time, and they made great use of it. With Brock calling out why they do what they do “Since Day 1, [wrestling] is the reason we had food on our plates & a roof over our head” and before Pillman closed it with a passionate tag line of “We’re big, we’re bad, we got the looks that kill, and the lineage that will”.
In action, they faced off against the Wingmen’s Ryan Nemeth & Cezar Bononi, who were on the losing end of the result, with Arn’s boys away with another win.
