TNT Extreme Wrestling - Cold Day in Hell Review

Jamie-Leigh Dodd

The second of TNT’s shows. It's a Cold Day in Hell!

Match 1: Lykos Gym vs Omari & Man Like Dereiss

Well, this one was highly entertaining. Omari put Lykos Gym on the back foot with his sheer size. Lykos Gym tried to counter this by climbing the turnbuckle and getting on each other's shoulders. That got a pop from the crowd. There was a lot of crowd interaction in this match, with the “0121” chants, those being nicely timed with stomps in the corner.

A shocking win (in my opinion) from Lykos Gym. This one was a great start to the show. I don’t think there was a moment when there was no crowd interaction for either team. It was a constant highlight watching this one. Grade B

Match 2: TNT Women’s Championship Open Challenge - Lizzy Evo vs Lucy Sky

This was meant to be Lizzy Evo vs Emersyn Jayne, but unfortunately Emersyn could not make it to the event. So Lizzy Evo issued an open challenge which was answered by none other than the TNT Ignition Women’s Champion Lucy Sky.

The crowd were highly involved in this one too, chanting “Lizzy Two Belts” and there was even a “Lizzy Three Belts” chant, could this be some foreshadowing to a future event?

A show of respect from both women before the match starts. A great match, hard hitting and very entertaining. Lizzy Evo retained her championship, and she raised Lucy Sky’s hand after the match. A brilliant match. Grade C+

Match 3: 6 Man Tag Team DeathMatch - BA Rose, Antonio Gonzalez & Michael Caden vs Paul Robinson, Clint Margera & Big F’N Joe

Well, what on earth can I say about this one? It was a deathmatch, it was destined to be absolutely mental. So many light tubes! The crowd was heavily involved in this one. I’m pretty sure a lot of the crowd were showered with shards of the light tubes and other bits of debris.

The crowd loved everyone in this match, apart from Robbo! I must admit, during a lot of this match, I was hiding at the back of the room, cringing at what was happening, but the husband was up there, front and centre loving life!

In the end, it was Paul Robinson, Clint Margera & Big F’N Joe who picked up the victory. After the match, Joe got a microphone and said that he wanted to take the belt (TNT Extreme Championship) to the next level. He throws out a challenge to Shlak for a match at DOA 2024. A very bloody match, that made me wince and not want to look, but it was highly loved by everyone. Grade B

“MadDog” Mike Angus is in the ring, he announces that there is a very special guest here tonight, and the very familiar car crash music hits! The crowd went absolutely mental! Is this real? Is Mick Foley actually here? Nope, its Tate Mayfairs.

Immediately the crowd boo Tate. He comes to the ring for his championship celebration. He says that he fooled us all! He goes on to say that he is the greatest champion and he is the one that everyone has come to see. He pops a bottle of champagne and sprays the crowd with it. He is then attacked from behind by Cole Radrick (his challenger for later). A brawl ensues and it is broken up by TNT staff.

Match 4: Visage vs Che Monet

The action begins before the bell even rings. The two competitors brawl on the outside of the ring. The action makes its way back into the ring and the match begins. This one was very hard hitting, and seemed like there was a lot of bad blood between the two.

Che Monet was able to pick up the win after a very hard fought match. Grade C+

Match 5: Blue Pain vs “The British BadBottom" The Munndertaker

Well, this one was always going to be the silliest match ever, but I was so excited for it!

The men take each other out by performing simultaneous chokeslams! After a while, Sam Bailey runs out to the ring, claiming that there has been another “Cease and Desist” sent by WWE, but this time, it is for both men! Blue Pain and The Munndertaker look at Bailey and then hit him with a double chokeslam.

All of a sudden, Gene Munny drops the character. He says that it’s time to stop all of this. It’s time for Blue Pain to take off his mask. As Blue Pain begins to take off his mask, Gene Munny attacks him from behind. Gene then hits Blue Pain with a tombstone to pick up the win.

After the match, Gene raises Blue Pain’s arm. They leave the ring together and as they get to the top of the entrance ramp, they raise their arms a la Brothers of Destruction! They get renamed as the Brothers of Distraction!

This one was just a mental, entertaining and funny match. It was great to see. Grade C+

Main Event: TNT World Championship Match - Tate Mayfairs vs Cole Radrick

This one was a heated match. It got a little too close for comfort for me and the action literally spilled out right in front of me! Cole threw Tate into the wall, that looked like it sucked! The match eventually got back into the ring. There were several near falls and it honestly felt like this match could go either way.

It was a very hard hitting match with some incredible moves. We even got to see a beautiful “coast to coast” from Tate. In the end, Tate was able to pick up the victory, retaining his championship.

After the match, he got a microphone and began to name former TNT World Champions. He was then interrupted by a video on the tron - its Joseph Conners! Joseph Conners is returning and he challenged Tate to a match for the title at Merseyside Madness!

This one was great, a nice back and forth match that was never dull. Tate picking up the win added to the hatred from the crowd which was great to hear. Grade A-

An amazing show! I absolutely loved this one. I don’t think there was any moment that let this one down, it was just great. So much energy from the crowd throughout the entire event. If you are able to, I urge you to go to a TNT show! You will not regret it.
