Although the 63-year-old has never wrestled for the WWE, Muta did have memorable feuds with Sting and Ric Flair in the WCW. The Great Muta is credited as the creator of the Shining Wizard, Muta Lock, and a variation on the moonsault. A scale for bloodshed during a wrestling match has also been named to honor him after a match with Hiroshi Hase in 1992.
On January 1, 2023, allowed Shinsuke Nakamura to wrestle outside the WWE for NOAH. A rare show of respect for the importance of Great Muta to wrestling. The Great Muta's official retirement match was a six-man tag in the Tokoyo Dome where he teamed with AEW's Sting and Darby Alin.
Keiji Muto was born on December 23, 1962 in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi, Japan. Before becoming a professional wrestler Keiji Muto earned a black belt in Judo. Muto was trained by Hiro Matsuda, the same person who broke Hulk Hogan's leg before training Hogan. Muta was a member of NWO Japan. He is also a multiple IWGP Heavyweight Champion. The Great Muta is the second-ever person to hold both the IWGP Heavyweight Championship (NJPW) and Triple Crown Heavey Weight Championship All Japan).
