Riot Cabaret - Bohemian Grapsody

On Tuesday night, Real Rasslin was at Clapham Grand for Riot Cabarets 10th show; Bohemian Grapsody.

Our Clint tells you all about it in this review.

Bohemian Grapsody started with Nico Angelo coming out to inform us he was injured. Originally he was scheduled to face Mark Andrews who advised a few weeks ago he is injured.

Mandrews came out and while he was trading verbal barbs with Nico the other members of Subculture (Flash Morgan Webster and Dani Luna) attacked Angelo.

James Lawrence told them to stop and if Dani Luna was here then she’s going to have a match. Is there anyone in the back who wants the challenge?

JAY JOSHUA VS DANI LUNA

Notorious B.I.G.s Sicker than your average hit out which can only mean Jay Joshua had stepped up.

Luna and Joshua went back and forth for 7 minutes until the distractions from Subculture became too much and Dani picked up the win.

LIZZY EVO VS AMIRA

Catchy track The Spark by Cabin Crew played around Clapham Grand and Amira danced to the ring. Lizzy Evo who had already endeared herself to the crowd with middle fingers attacked her while she was on the ring apron.

Amira showed great resilience in this match but the experienced Lizzy Evo picked up the win after a vicious knee strike.

Evo was making her Riot Cabaret debut. I’m not sure anyone is working as many high quality BritWres shows as Lizzy. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her get a contract offer soon.

Cassius attacked Amira after the match. Amira has since announced an injury and thanked the referee and Lizzy for finishing the match. We wish Amira a speedy recovery.

JAMES ELLIS (with Tate Mayfairs) VS JOE BLAZR (with Murdoch)

The annoying James Ellis was out next with his “Any match, any time” contract on the line.

Joe Blazr was the clear fan favorite and has reinvented himself over the last 6 months which you have to admire. Speaking with him, he’s a nice lad and can be seen at many shows helping even when he’s not booked.

Ellis picked up the win here to retain his contract.

BIG BALLER INVITATIONAL

Harrison Leon’s 2nd Big Baller Invitational was next. The 1st was in February and won by some devilishly handsome dude in the crowd. (It was me). I won £100 after correctly naming the 1st Riot Cabaret show.

This time everyone has a purple or gold ticket as they entered the venue and depending on if your wrestler won you got a free shot (with the purchase of a drink which most were doing anyway).

MILLIE MCKENZIE VS HARLEY HUDSON

Commonjets “The Enemy” played as McKenzie stepped out for the gold team. It’s great to see her back after a couple of injury setbacks this year

Girls Aloud “Something kinda ooh” meant Harley Hudson was representing the purple team.

This is a fantastic format that more promotions should do. It gets the crowd involved a little more as “Gold” by Spandau Ballet and “Purple Rain” by Prince were sang by those in attendance.

Millie picked up the win to close the 1st half much to my friend Louis’s delight. I had a purple ticket. You can’t win them all. Harley Hudson shot out some personalised notes of money that it seems Harrison had made.

BULLIT VS MULLIGAN

They tried teaming at Arm Drags and Glad Rags and it didn’t go well so both were looking to put a W next to their name here.

There were some “MEAT” chants as both big men collided on occasions with neither prepared to budge.

Bullit got the 3 count after a thunderous Chokeslam.

RIOT CABARET TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

SESSION TWATS VS SUNSHINE MACHINE VS NINA SAMUELS/CASSIUS

Martina congratulated Crowley on his trip to Japan and said “You’ve got this” before heading to the bar.

He started the match with a magic trick for Mambo. He pulled his hand out of his hat before giving Chuck a slap “fresh from Japan”

The next 15 minutes was the chaos you’d expect from these 6. Nina Samuels has defended the Riot Cabaret Women’s Title 7 times against a who’s who of BritWres and was looking to become a double Champion.

The lights went out towards the end of the match, a clock donged and Spike Trivet came out of nowhere. He spat red mist into the Spectacular Twats eyes before hitting him with a chair over and over. Crowley was helped to the back.

Nina and Cassius had a couple of malfunction at the junctions that Samuels cannot be happy about.

TK saw an opportunity and threw a chair to Mambo who didn’t use it. Has TK been spending too much time around their former partner Connor Mills who would do anything to win or was this smart?

Nina went to use the chair and Crowley reappeared to prevent it. Cassius picked it up, Martina pushed Cassius and the chair into Samuel’s before rolling him up.

Somehow the Session Twats retained. Next month will make a year since they won the Tag Titles in an emotional match against the Greedy Souls. Or will it?

SESSION TWATS VS JAMES ELLIS/TATE MAYFAIRS

Ellis and Mayfairs ran out and Ellis chased in his ‘Any match, any time’ contract. The crowd chanted “Bullshit” as they anticipated a title change.

The challengers disposed of Martina before Mayfairs hit a running knee and the contract holder hit a Blue Thunder Bomb. We have new Riot Cabaret Tag Team Champions. The 2 left as Champions almost as quickly as they appeared.

RIOT CABARET TITLE

MICHAEL OKU VS CONNOR MILLS

Even though Mills gives the crowd the middle fingers he’s clearly got a fan base that is growing and refuses to boo him. He’s improved over the years and it’s been a long time coming that he holds a top title.

These 2 know each other very well and there were ‘Destination Everywhere’ chants as the match started. A nod to their former team name.

At the 16 minute mark Oku went for a second high jump style moonsault over the top rope. Mills caught him, put his legs on the ring apron and spiked him to the ground on the outside. He quickly hit a stomp from the top rope and followed with a submission. I and many others thought this was the end of Oku’s run.

He managed to turn into his half crab finisher, Mills tapped and Oku escaped with his title after a had fought battle.

The Champion took a mic, gave praise to Mills and said he was disappointed he couldn’t fight Mark Andrews as he had a boo boo.

Mandrews came out and again Subculture attacked from behind. Angelo, Joshua and Sunshine Machine came out and Subculture retreated. There are only so many times you can outnumber opponents before they team up.

It was announced Oku will defend against both Andrews and Angelo at ‘All Singing, All Dancing’ on Friday 23rd August (AEW All In weekend).

Grado has also been announced for what is sure to be another fun filled wrestling extravaganza.
