Hi guys. It’s Clint with another BritWres review. On Tuesday Night, Riot Cabaret hosted their 9th event at the Clapham Grand in London. They’ve quickly established themselves as a unique promotion and one of the best on the scene. Let’s see what went down.
Match 1
Nico Angelo Vs Vaughn Vertigo
The man with the Black Heart of Gold was looking to follow on from his win over Tommy Kyle at Slamma Mia in February with another win here.
Vaughn made Nico work for this one with both men hitting dives to the outside. Vertigo kicked out of a shooting star press to his back but Nico picked up the 3 count. The 2 exchanged a nod of respect on the way out.
Match 2
Alexxis Falcon Vs Artemis
The Iron Queen came out as the Evil Disney Queen on this evening with scepter in hand.
Artemis was ring crew on the last show until Nina Samuels attacked her and challenged her to a match. Shes now took 2 of BritWres’ biggest talents to the limit in Clapham Grand.
Falcon won this after hitting the ‘Off with her head’ spinning DDT.
Match 3
Charles Crowley’s Big Lucky Balls
Charles Crowley/Session Moth Martina Vs ???/???
Lots of innuendos here as there was the smallest tombola and balls you’ve ever seen which Martina accidentally knocked over. Each wrestler on the Riot Cabaret roster had been assigned a number.
Number 69 was pulled out and Bullit’s music hit. He towered over his opponents as Number 13 was drawn which brought out Mulligan.
The 2 big men dominated the match until a few miscommunications. Once Bullit left his partner high and dry Crowley and Session Moth were able to double team Mulligan and take the win.
Match 4
TABLE’S, LADDER’S and CHAIR’S
Connor Mills and Sunshine Machine Vs Ted Sabin and The Bryant’s
Safire Reed has an injury so was replaced by Ted Sabin in what was always going to be a brutal match.
Both teams were 1-1 against each other with Mill using the ropes in the 1st match while he was stopped in the 2nd and the ropes were using for him to get pinned.
No rope breaks in this one as the ladders were quickly out. Nino was placed between them in the corner as Mills sacrificed himself by throwing his body into the 1st ladder crushing Nino.
The team of Mills and Sunshine Machine have had their differences on numerous occasions but were working well as SM lifted a vertical ladder than Mills was standing on so he could complete a splash from a great height.
The Bryant’s and Ted gained control using the old Shield triple PowerBomb from the 2nd rope through a table. Sabin did a forward roll onto TK who was placed on a ladder between a vertical ladder and the 2nd rope. Zander stood on top of a ladder with nothing to grab so splashed TK the ladder he was still lying on.
Mills went to work with chairshot after chairshot until Mambo had mercy. Another disagreement wasn’t enough to stop Mills and Sunshine Machine picking up another big win in the match of the night.
The interval was next as the ring needed clearing of the carnage before Bohemian Grapsody was announced for Tuesday 2nd July.
Match 5
RIOT CABARET WOMENS TITLE
Nina Samuels Vs Alex Windsor
Windsor came out to a great reception from the Riot Cabaret faithful. Nina entered with 10 different titles around her waist and over her arms like a modern day Ultimo Dragon.
There’s no debating these are 2 of BritWres’ top female talent who have dominated the scene as much as anyone.
I sensed a title change on the horizon but it wasn’t to be on this night. Nina will do anything to retain her titles and used an exposed turnbuckle to put away the iron willed one.
Nina grabbed a mic after the match and said why stop at 10 titles? She wants more gold. She wants more gold in Riot Cabaret. Interesting.
Match 6
Tate Mayfairs/James Ellis Vs Joe Blazr/Murdoch
Mayfairs and Ellis came out holding up their partners T-Shirts for all to see. Blazr and Murdoch had a funny video entrance about going to the local spoons London and South Western once they won. They got the crowd going before Blazr and Murdoch were attacked before the opening bell.
To the surprise of very few, Mayfairs and Ellis had to cheat to win.
Grado was announced for All Singing All Dancing 2 days before AEW All In this August.
Match 7
RIOT CABARET CHAMPIONSHIP
Michael Oku Vs Mark Andrews
This one has got a little personal as Oku accused Andrews of coasting for the last few years. The man from Subculture pointed out he’s won Championships in Impact and Rev Pro in the last year. He also said how not going for 5 star matches all the time may prolong his career for 5 or 10 years.
A back and forth encounter for 20+ minutes as both men traded the advantage and hit their signature moves.
I had to leave a couple of minutes before the end to make the last train back to Birmingham but Oku retained before telling Andrews that he’s still got it. Mark took offense to this and attacked the master of the half crab before stating you’ve not see the last of him.
Another good creative show. Riot Cabaret attracts a rowdy crowd in a special venue. Get yourself along and see what you’re missing if you’re based in London or can get there midweek.
