NWA Powerrr Review 05/12/23

It’s this week’s review of NWA Powerrr and we are at Episode 136. Let’s get straight into the action!

Match 1: The Slimeballz vs The Country Gentleman

A pretty good opening match. Nice tag team action. Some very impressive athletic moves from the big men. Frequent tags from the Slimeballz which kept the pace of the match quick. The Country Gentlemen picked up the victory in this one. Grade C

Interview Segment:

Kyle Davis is at the Podium and he is joined by Samantha Starr. Before the interview can even begin, Samantha Starr demands that she now only be referred to as Miss Starr. She says that is because she is a star. She says that she is a 3rd generation wrestler on both sides of her family. Miss Starr then introduces us to her new assistant, Chelsea. Miss Starr then announces that she has gotten Chelsea a championship match, and it is for the NWA Women’s Television Championship against Max the Impaler, next.

Match 2: NWA Women’s Television Championship Match: Max the Impaler vs Chelsea

The match begins and it takes around 2 minutes for any action to even take place. Max is just toying with Chelsea. When the action did begin, it was a typical Max the Impaler squash match. No offence from Chelsea in this one. Not a great match. The match is ended when Max hits a lariat. Grade D-

Match 3: The Outrunners vs The New Spectaculars 2.0

Another decent tag team match. Frequent tags from the Outrunners which kept the match at a quick pace. As soon as Slade was tagged in, the match shifted into the favour of the New Spectaculars 2.0. Some well executed moves from Slade, and the New Spectaculars 2.0 pick up the victory. Grade C

Backstage Interview:

May Valentine is backstage with Pretty Empowered and Colby Corino to talk about their upcoming title matches. Pretty Empowered say they don't care who their challengers are, because they run the division. Colby Corino is very adamant that he will retain his title.

Match 4: Junior Heavyweight Match: Joe Alonzo vs Rey Fury vs Luke Kurtis

A good triple threat match. Rey Fury had control for most of the match. Joe Alonzo and Luke Kurtis seemed to make a good team - maybe this could be the start of them in a tag team? Plenty of action and near falls. The match was eventually won by Joe Alonzo. These 3 men are definitely ones to watch. Grade B-

Backstage Interview.

May Valentine is backstage with Daisy Kill and Talos. Daisy Kill “sings” May Valentine a song and sends a message to the Immortals.

Main Event Match: NWA National Heavyweight Championship: “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason vs Devan Dixon

An OK main event. Heavy hitting with some quickness. Good chemistry from the men, you can tell they have been tag team partners before. It wasn’t really anything special though, a bit of a let down as the main event. It could have been better. Grade C-

After the match, the Southern Six come out and begin to attack Devan Dixon while he is still down. EC3 and Jax Dane come out to make the save.

Overall, an OK episode. The Junior Heavyweight match was the match of the night in my opinion. These episodes really need to be longer so that people can actually become invested in the matches and the character development of the talent as at the moment, the matches are over that quickly, that there is really not much storytelling.
