The action started off with Continental Classic action.
Mox had earlier cut a promo about being all banged up and Rush suplexes him onto his arm which Mox then starts to baby. Rush and Mox battle in the crowd for a brief moment. Rush hit Mox with a can when they returned to the crowd. Paul Turner is not counting. While this has been a brawl the two men finally start exchanging blows in the middle of the ring. Mox would hit a big cutter. The two combatants spent more time outside of the ring than inside during the first segment of the match. Both men hit a superplex. Mox sells the superplex the same way he sells landing on barbed wire. Turner tells both men that they need to win it in the ring after Mox dives out onto Rush. Rush tried for Bulls Horns twice and Mox got up blocking it with soldi hit. Mox then hits a Death Rider and bulldog choke. This effectively eliminated Rush from winning the tournament. That sucks for Rush. Mox getting 9 points does put some of the tournament participants on the bubble.
I have just grown tired of the Roderick Strong segments. As the wheelchair has held him back far too long so has his storyline.
It looks like the Adam Page and Swerve Strickland is not over. MJF and Adam Cole may also be brewing a feud. I like this. I don't think MJF should be getting put into more storylines but I like how it isn't just one person feuding for the title month after month.
This is a win or lose situation for Mark Briscoe. He either makes a The Elite style comeback ala best of seven with the Lucha Bros or he is out of the running for winning the Gold League. Both men start cautiously with a collar and elbow tie up. Mark is showing some basics in wrestling, same with Swerve. This match is starting real slow. Mark has put a headlock on several times. Excalibur when talking about how anyone that can't win the most points would still just want to have a good showing because the tournament will be back next year. Something that was not announced from my recollection. Briscoe starts to pick up the pace with a threw the ropes dropkick. Swerve does a suplex off the barricade onto the floor. That was impressive to me. Both men's body was on the line there. Swerve is using his surroundings to his advantage. If Mark Briscoe wins this match this really sets him up as an underdog. I really wonder if Tonoy Khan has just moved on from Mark Briscoe. He was all for him just under a year ago after his brother had passed. Now when returning from injury he isn't being booked the same. Swerve did a lot of energy wasting for his flatliner and kick. 450 slam gets Mark Briscoe a two almost a three count. Briscoe's froggybow was blocked. Five minutes remain in the match. Briscoe just maneuvers himself into the Swerve Stomp. Swerve has not followed Jon Moxley in getting 9 points out of a possible 15.
Right as Joe hits the ring, The Devil's masked me surround the ring. The lights went out then some flickering. Lights went back out and Samoa Joe stood in the ring unmolested. MJF on the other hand was knocked out in the back. A smashed beer bottle lay all around him. That was also a lot of glass for one bottle.
Next week Jon Moxley and Swerve Strickland will meet in Texas at Winter is Coming.
This may sound Gen Z, which I am not, of me but who really knows or cares if Ben Mankiewicz announces Tony Storm. I know it goes with the classic movie star that Timeless Toni Storm is portraying.
I seen on the internet earlier today that people claim Tony Khan has given up on the women's division. I feel like these two ladies are proof to the contrary. Just go back and watch them for the last two months or so. Toni Storm had control with a head lock for a bit. Skye Blue then took control with a wrist lock. Toni got mad and started laying in some strong looking blows. Skye blue stops that with a tiaras. Luther helps Toni Storm by putting her on his shoulders and running. That ended with Storm throwing Blue out by the hair. Hip attack into the corner of the barricade. Toni Storm had a massive windup just to miss. This allowed Skye Blue some offense in. Skye Blue does give two massive boots in the corner before a Skye Blue for a two count. Storm retains.
Riho is back and stops the celebration of Toni Storm. A drop kick sends Toni out of the ring. Luther catches her and carries her away. Looks like Riho will be the next challenger.
Jay Lethal is in the same predicament as Mark Briscoe. No points on the board. The two men lock up and neither seems to have a clear power advantage. This is one of the matches I find hard to put words down about. It is not bad. There isn't much in the first part of it to say anything about. Both men as much as I may not like Jay Lethal are solid performers. I mean there is a reason that RIc Flair used Jay Lethal not only in his Last Match but to train for the match. Jay Lethal put Jay White in a torture rack. The roll thru looked rough. White landed on his side not his back. Lethal followed that up with an elbow drop. Sheer drop brain buster by Jay White for a near fall. Both men simultaneously gouge their opponents eyes. Nice flow of moves. Lethal Injection blocked by a Blade Runner attempt. Okada roll into another Lethal Injection attempt for Jay White to get a quick pin. Jay White now has 6 points.
The last time that Christian and Adam Copeland had a match was 13 years ago. This match is set for one fall or TV Time Remaining. As I look at my computer it is 2040 CTS (8:40pm for those who don't do 24 hour time). Both men came to the ring by themselves. The bell rings and there is a staredwon. Adam Copeland smacks Chrsitian and quickly locks a rear chin lock on him. Copeland is really aggressive in this match. Adam slams Christian into the announcer desk. He even waves a limp hand of Christian at Taz and says hi. Christian begs of mercy in the ring. He then goes for a low blow which is blocked. Chirstian is able to get some control by pulling Copeland's throat into the bottom turnbuckle. This turns the tide big time. Christian targets his opponent's neck. These two men have the crowd eating out of the palm of their hands. Christian is getting boos. Adam Copeland is getting cheered even when biting. Copeland does a Russian leg sweep of the middle turnbuckle. Spear thru the ropes blocked. Pendulum Kick then blocked. A diving clothesline by Adam Copeland takes both men from the apron to the floor. A big frog splash with lots of airtime by Christian Cage gets him a two count. Christin then tries to spear Adam Copeland. Copeland countered it into an Impaler. Adam Copeland nearly puts it away with a running Liger bomb. Christian Cage attempts the Killswitch twice but is prevented from hitting it. Adam Copeland puts Christian Cage in a cross face. Cage is able to use his long legs to get into the ropes. Christian leap frogs over the spear by Adam Copeland. Christian then hits a Killswitch for a two. Copeland hts the ref. Christain Cage then takes Bryce out. Both men attempt a spear and collide in the middle of the ring. Shana Wayne comes out. Shana hits Adam Copeland with the belt. NIce swerve. Christian then hits a Killswitch. A stomp t the back of Adam's neck before Christian Pins him. Surely this is not the end of the Christian and Adam Copeland feud.
The rundown for next weeks show looks really interesting. The Von Erichs will be there. The movie "Iron Claw" hits theaters on 22 December 2023. Do you have your tickets yet?
