We at Real Rasslin have come to learn.
Matt Riddle is heading to New Japan Pro Wrestling and has issued a challenge to the new NJPW World Television Champion.
The former WWE star set his sights on Hiroshi Tanahashi in a video package that was shown at NJPW New Year Dash on January 5.
In the video package, which can be seen below, we’re treated to footage of a rather flashy-looking car and Riddle showing off his MMA style before we see the man himself.
Riddle then went on to issue the challenge to the Ace of New Japan to applause from the NJPW fans.
As for Tanahashi, the commentary team would translate his words which were:
“I’ll do it… but, I have no idea who that guy is. So, I’ll have to go back and do some research first.”

The former WWE star had revealed that NJPW was on his bucket list, having not wrestled for the promotion previously.
Riddle recently revealed that he’s dropping his “goofball” WWE character, promising that he will now be able to “show the world what (he) can do in the ring.”
He has also previously provided an update on health issues that have recently affected his family.
He recently signed with Major League Wrestling following his release from his WWE contract on September 22, 2023.
