First Women's Match In WWE Speed Confirmed

The first women’s match set for WWE Speed has been confirmed at tonight’s SmackDown taping as the social media exclusive matches have begun.

At last night’s WWE SmackDown one of the dark matches that was filmed was branded for the Twitter exclusive show, WWE Speed.

WWE Speed features three minute regular episodes and five minute longer specials as well as the unique WWE Speed Championship.

Featuring tournament style matches culminating in a WWE Speed Champion being determined, champions so far have included Ricochet and current champion Andrade.

Thus far, Speed has only featured matches with male talent, but that is primed to change.

Triple H recently announced the WWE Speed Women’s Championship would be introduced, and the tournament to crown the inaugural champion looks to be underway.

While the matches are not always filmed in order of release, the match filmed at tonight’s SmackDown taping on August 23 featured IYO SKY taking on Lyra Valkyria.

Elsewhere on last night’s SmackDown, the show kicked off with an edition of the Grayson Waller Effect starring Cody Rhodes.

During the segment, Waller, with Austin Theory by his side, ran a video package of all the times Kevin Owens has turned on allies in WWE, including a notable inclusion.

The 2017 ‘Festival of Friendship’ segment featuring current AEW star Chris Jericho was shown as Jericho’s name was also shown on screen.
