After the June 21 SmackDown, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes says he felt “embarrassed” following torn pec injury.
At WWE Hell In A Cell 2022, Cody Rhodes defeated Seth Rollins in the titular bout that is fondly remembered by fans to this day. A large part in making the match memorable was Cody entering the Hell In A Cell with a torn pectoral muscle and still wrestling for over 25 minutes.
Speaking with The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, Cody Rhodes discussed the Hell In A Cell match with Seth Rollins and feeling embarrassed when he looks back on that night. He said:
“I can tell it means something to the fans who watched it there in the arena and the fan who watched it at home.”
“But, for me, because it was just an embarrassing, dejected, awful feeling going through that day and then of knowing in the few days leading up that it clearly was torn and it was getting worse.”
“I love that people love it but also it’s a weird feeling when I see it and I’m glad it catches on with people. They did an incredible job with it but it’s just a strange, strange thing that’s documented in your life.”
Cody Rhodes returned from the torn pec injury to win the 2023 Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania 39. Despite coming up short at that event, Rhodes went on to win a second Rumble match and defeat Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40.
