Dynamite is started with an arrival of a mystery person. Also in attendance is the President of Stardom. Mercedes Mone also wastes no time making her presence known.
The fans in attendance emphatically chant CEO. "Boston, I'm home." will these be iconic words for a brilliant run or another CM Punk. She seems grateful. Goes for the cheap pop of evoking Eddie Guerrero. Then she takes credit for the Women's Revolution in WWE without name dropping it. To sum it up, nothing said cheap pops. She also got into wrestling gear for no apparent reason. She could have stayed in her fur coat.
Not sure on the move of opening with this match. The two have had some decent matches in the past so I has the potential to be a good match. I just don't see Wardlow taking the belt from Joe. The chance to take the belt of Joe was at Revolution. Wardlow attacked Samoa Joe before the bell. Wardlow had the early advantage but Joe would punch his way out of that situation. Wardlow after knocking Joe down from what was going to be a top rope suplex, did a moonsault. The agility of both these "big men" is great. Wardlow did not allow the walk off to work. Smart move since Samoa Joe has been doing this for years. Then others before that. Joe gets a two off a powerslam. Excalibur claims Samoa Joe was going for a Muscle Buster when he clearly was not. Joe was putting Wardlow gut across his shoulder. Joe kicks out of Wardlow's dropping knee. Joe then dodges a senton. Joe locks Wardlow in the Rear Naked Choke. Wardlow nearly gets the ropes but falls backwards for Joe to win by submission.
Swerve then storms the ring. He knocked out security to make his way down. Joe exited the ring as Swerve got in.
The Elite is backstage with with Alex Marvez. The Young Bucks tell him to respect Okada and use his full name. Okada ends the promo by making Marvez sing Happy Birthday to Matthew.
This is probably the most exciting match on the card tonight for me. Darby against Jay White is a close second. Okada just edges out the other two. The act of Matthew Jackson flipping the coin to que Okada's music is a cool addition to the entrance. Matthew and Eddie start the match after a false start of Okada. Matthew Jackson tried to get a fist bump from Eddie but was slapped instead. Tag in Pac. Same thing happened with Pac. I don't know why Pac was gone for so long but he is looking great. Penta dressed all in red matches Nick Jackson. Penta and Pac seems to have not missed a step with Pac's absence. Eddie and Okada are now the legal men. They start to trade blows. Okada delivers his first wonderful looking drop kick in AEW as a AEW wrestler. Okada and the Young Bucks have already shown triple team maneuvers. They pose together and that should have had a zoom out. That is the pose that Okada would hit and get a zoom out in NJPW. This new version of The Elite has beatdown Eddie Kingston. Eddie is looking to make the hot tag. Eddie is finally able to get the hot tag after a belly to belly. Penta takes on all of the opposition. Pac is tagged in to keep the momentum going. Stereo dives from Penta and Pac. The Elite win after a low blow and a Rainmaker.
Will Ospreay is given some time to hype his match against Danielson at Dynasty. Tony Schiavone compliments Ospreay for his amazing work. Ospreay starts by saying he just wanted to follow in the steps of Bryan Danielson's work rate. Will describes the Tiger Driver 91 and says drops his opponent on their knockers. Definitely a different meaning in the US from the UK. Besides that Will just talks up his opponent, Bruv.
A 20 min time limit for this match come on. They gave a longer time limit to Wardlow and Joe. Darby is all wrapped up still showing the effects of his match at Revolution. As Darby took off his jacket you could see the long gash from the glass poking out from under the bandages. Jay White has the advantage, but that was to be expected as a Darby Allin match. White shoves his shoulder into Darby's gut while Darby is in the corner. Darby starts to get some offense in but with each attack he seems to hurt his back. Darby slams White into the guardrail. Jay White would take advantage by suplexing Darby into a chair. Darby jumps over the steps as Jay White threw him in but when jumping just flips over and lands on his back. Jay White continues to work on the back of Darby Allin. Even pinning Darby puts pressure on his stitches. It may not hurt but it is uncomfortable. Darb started to mount a comeback. Jay White ends it by pulling Darby's legs out from under him on the top rope. Jay White missed a Stinger Splash. Darby gets his flip over stunner. Darby gets a two count with a last supper pin. Scorpion Death Drop out of a reversal. Darby was able to get a two count off that. Darby would miss a Coffin Drop on the apron. You could see where he tried to position himself to not hit the stitches. Jay White would win with a Bladerunner shortly after. This is probably the best booking decision since Darby is taking some time off. The Gunns attack Darby after the match. This set up an injury write off. The Acclaimed saving Darby sets up the Bang Bang Scissor Gang break up. Jay White punctuated that with hitting Daddy Ass with a chair. It was an inevitable thing.
The team of Hook and Jericho were deemed LionHook. Jericho also did not come out to Judas. Gates of Agony come out making it look like a big match. Bishop Khan as a really cool mask. Khan and Hook start the match. Quick tag in of Jericho to do a double suplex. Leona quickly gets in to also receive a double suplex. Gates of Agony take control of the match. Leona sends Jericho from the apron to the commentary desk. Excalibur says that Leona has only been wrestling for 3 years. Jericho is taking the beat down to allow Hook a massive hot tag. Jericho would give a high boot and then a Lionsault to Khan. This gave him room to tag Hook. Jericho almost came up short on a double ax handle off the top rope. Hook barely seemed to get a German suplex on Leona. Gates of Agony signal for their finisher but Hook escapes into a Redrum . Redrum Liontamer for a small second until Jericho has to knock Leona off the apron. Bishop Khan taps to Hook. LionHook wins.
Ten minutes left of the broadcast with a twenty minute time limit. This match seems to be mainly about Willow and Mercedes. Willow quickly uses her power and size to overpower Riho. Riho does exhibit her speed to counter and hit moves. It is hard to have much interest in this match for me. Both ladies are accomplished but the bigger story is not with either of them against each other. Riho is able to get a near fall onto Willow Nightingale. Riho reverses a Doctor Bomb. Willow rolls away from a double stomp. Willow then pounces and nearly knocks Riho out of the ring. Riho is able to recover enough to knock Willow down and hit the double stomps. Willow will win with a Dr. Bomb.
The lights went out. Julia Hart appears and Sky Blue attacks from behind. The fans chant for Mercedes Mone to come out. Her music does hit. Mercedes has a wardrobe change. Mone takes out the TBS champ and Skye Blue.
Tonight has been disappointing. Tony Khan said it would be historic and it was not. Mercedes Mone to some is a big signing but how does she compare to Okad and Ospreay in the last few weeks. She does not compare. Next week looks to be stacked. Okada against Eddie for the Continental Title in Continental Rules. "I Quit" match between Copeland and Christian. Hook against Jericho. How can that one card not be amazing?
