Mercedes Moné's wrestling future will be amongst the biggest wrestling questions to be answered in 2024, though the situation appears to be no closer to a resolution despite rumours of a WWE return.
SEScoops' Aaron Varble reports that multiple sources have confirmed that no contract discussions have taken place between WWE and the former Sasha Banks. On top of this, creative has not been putting return ideas together for Mercedes Moné, who is currently a free agent after an agreement with NJPW/Stardom parent company Bushiroad expired earlier this year.
One source commented:
"I was told by a tenured member of the WWE team on December 12th that, "Sasha Banks' name will only come up when there's a deal. There's no deal, or no deal yet."
Mercedes Moné formally left WWE in January 2023, doing so after a lengthy period on the sidelines after she and tag team partner Naomi (Trinity) had walked out during an episode of Raw due to creative concerns. Sasha Banks and Naomi are understood to have left their Women's Tag Team Championship belts on then-Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis' desk that night.
Mercedes Moné has since wrestled for both Stardom and NJPW. In August, she was shown in the crowd at AEW's biggest-ever event, All In. Though a deal is yet to be struck, Moné/AEW rumours persist alongside the WWE talk.
